If you were ever wondering if birth photography is a BIG thing, it is!
Every year, the International Association of Professional Birth Photographers (IAPBP) hosts a contest for birth photographers across the globe. There are hundreds of entries, from all the over the world, and we as birth photographers agonize (sometimes for weeks) over which images to submit.
This year, there are 4 categories. Labor, Birth, Postpartum, and Details. This year is the first time I only entered ONE category – Postpartum.
When I started editing the images from my repeat client’s birth, in early August 2016, I had a feeling I had some beautiful images, but I had no idea I had this ONE. Every time I look at it, a very peaceful feeling overcomes me. I take a deep breath….. and just sigh.
The colors, the angle, the subject, the pose (not posed, but lucky I got this image right before she got out of her birth pool), there will always be something special about this image. I want to study every detail, every.single.time.
I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I do. Thank you, Milena, for allowing me to share yours and your brand new daughter’s beauty, on the day she arrived.
I will never cease to be amazed at women’s strength, beauty and grace, while laboring and birthing their babies! It’s an honor. every. single. time.
